About me…
I have written for years with my Dixon Ticonderoga in my Moleskin journal. I was motivated to create an online blog almost ten years. Much has changed in my life since starting this blog. Back then I worked at the Barn and now I am a multi-Ironman triathlete, adventure seeker & former camp director. GraphiteFree is for fun, nostalgia and to honor my favorite yellow pencil.

Somewhere in the Bluegrass State
Today we stopped by Enterprise to rent our SUV which looks a lot like a mini-van. I didn’t want to drive a mini-van because mini-van drivers are the worst drivers! So I let Divot drive and I watched movies in … Continue reading

100th Post, 100 Words
My first journal was started in January of 1985. Wow! 25 years ago. Ironically, that was the month my younger brother died of meningitis. I only wrote in my little blue journal until early March, but it stood as a … Continue reading
Uphill Both Ways
Remember hearing your parents tell stories about walking barefoot to school in the snow uphill both ways? Today the adventure home seemed as treacherous as all those stories my folks told me. The snow on the roads, the crazy southern … Continue reading
